If you have ever had a skunk smell in the house, it's not a fun experience. Many times you will wake up in the middle of the night with an overbearing smell that the skunk released. The odor can get into your room and the rest of your house and cause you quite a bit of problems. Learn a few techniques to getting this smell out of your home.
Much of the time a skunk smell can also smell like burning. Make sure that something is not on fire just to be safe. You don't want to mistake a fire as something else and put those living in your home in danger.
Go out and make sure the skunk isn't in the area any longer the next day or during the day. Most of the time after a skunk sprays they probably have left the area. Gauge whether the smell outside is better or worse than inside.
If the smell outside isn't too bad, open your windows in your house and hope for a breeze to come by to start getting the smell out.
Put white vinegar into a spray bottle and squirt it around the house as this can help neutralize odors.
Get a nice citrus smelling spray to help cover up the vinegar and make the house smell a bit fresher.
Leave out things like used coffee grounds as they have lots of odor and can absorb some odor.
Consider boiling water on the stove with some strong smell it in like cinnamon or peppermint.
If your pet is the source of the smell, you need to get the skunk smell out of your pet's fur.
Be careful about what packages you open up as the smell of skunk seems to get into almost everything.
Regardless of what you do, it's going to take a bit of time for the smell to finally go away making your home feel normal again.
